I started working at Lammack in January 2019 as a PPA teacher and since then, have taught in every class from Reception right through to Year 6.

After qualifying as a teacher in Liverpool, I spent many years working with vulnerable children within the residential care system, for both NCH and Bolton Social Services. In the early 90’s, I developed my hobby of restoring ceramics and antique pottery into a full time business, which I still run today, albeit on a part time basis. In 2007 I returned to teaching within the primary setting and in my previous school, was a member of the Governing body for over ten years, eight if which were as Safeguarding Governor.

I have three grown up children, who live in York, Manchester and London, and two grandchildren aged 5 and 7. In my spare time, I enjoy martial arts and kickboxing and boxing in an attempt to keep fit!

Name: Mr Mohammed Khan

Committee: Resources

Type of Governor: Parent

I work for Blackburn with Darwen Healthy Living, a Charity based in Blackburn. Over the last few years I have been working very closely supporting local groups and individuals in both Highercroft and Shadsworth with Whitebirk enabling them to influence how funding is distributed and utilised to benefit other local people. I have supported these local people to design and implement a programme of activities to help promote health and wellbeing, at the same time tackle community cohesion and make positive changes to their community. I am also helping the service to deliver 2 small grant schemes, one for the community of Highercroft and one for the young people throughout Blackburn with Darwen, where we are promoting grass route projects run by local people for local people.

I have been involved in Community and Youth work for over 20 years in Blackburn with Darwen working in some of the most deprived neighbourhoods. In my previous employment for both Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council and Blackburn with Darwen Young Peoples Services my work consisted mainly around supporting young people from diverse backgrounds with tackling issues around young people’s rights, racism, education and helping them understand people’s opinions matter regardless of their gender or age. Many of work focussed around engagement with young people, many of whom had not accessed local services or who were deemed as ‘nuisances’ within the local community and introduced them to more positive activities.

I have lived most of my life in Audley; I started volunteering for the Youth Club at the Sports and Community Centre in ‘93/’94. Whilst volunteering I started working at the community centre supporting young people and groups and continued to do this for the next 5 years, I carried on working in community centres for 11 years. I continued to work for the Youth Service at Audley for the next 10 years.

I have experience of working within several schools in both Blackburn and Darwen; as part of my role of working on youth intervention projects. I have also developed and trained local people in delivering several Youth and Adult consultations so that they can carry out peer lead consultations to ascertain what the needs of the local people are and then deliver the findings to the correct platform to positively effect change.
