Writing & Spelling
At Lammack, pupils are given opportunities to apply the requirements of writing within a broad and balanced curriculum. Through the daily teaching of writing, children are taught how to plan, revise and evaluate their written work for an intended purpose and audience. Their writing skills are developed through quality first teaching in English and the wider curriculum. Children learn about a genre of writing by reading a variety of texts and becoming familiar with the language style and content. Reading and oracy are essential components of writing at Lammack and the opportunities for ‘Talk for Writing’ are plentiful. The reading and oracy skills in turn contribute to the development of comprehension skills, vocabulary and spoken language skills which underpin the children’s writing. The children then produce a final outcome, usually linked to their topic that term.
